Port Ann Wesleyan Youth Group online component for May 19: Election and camp registration

Estimated read time 3 min read

This week’s youth group was not our typical routine of lessons and activities, but instead included our annual youth group election of officers for the coming year, a time of prayer, talk about upcoming camp opportunities and some time to unwind and play games as the school year winds down.

We had 12 youth in attendance (Paige, Samantha, Julianna, Sammy, Miles, Elena, Alana, Elizabeth, Austin, Wyatt, Hunter and Harmonie). Election results included the following:

President: Paige Zaktansky

Vice President: Samantha Zaktansky

Secretary: Julianna Jordan

Treasurer: Alana Eicher

Ministries Coordinator: Harmonie Sauers

There are two camp opportunities this summer:

The first is district youth camp at Camp Harmony just south of Johnstown (the same camp used for kids camp in the past). It is a shortened program, running Sunday, July 11. through Wednesday, July 14. We will be leaving the church approximately around 3 or 3:30 the afternoon of July 11 and returning sometime in the evening on July 14. Registration for youth camp is due by June 1 to lock in the $150 rate. If someone registers past June 1, the cost goes up to $175.

Registration for youth camp is done via an online form located here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Zl-VVuGGe0YOXc7r6mVMfVEABm__SphByTZOsDAIvqQ/viewform?edit_requested=true

Please let Michelle or I know when you fill out this form so we are aware you are officially going. There are also two additional forms (waiver and medical) that we can provide you in paper version to fill out before going to camp. Let us know if you have any questions.

The second camp opportunity is our annual family camp program at the Central PA Wesleyan Campground near New Columbia. That runs from Wednesday, July 21, through Sunday, July 25. We are encouraging our youth to come Tuesday evening (July 20) since youth programming officially begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday the 21st.

As it was last year, our youth will be situated in tents near our family campsite. Daily programming includes 10 a.m. worship and lesson, afternoon camp-wide youth activity, evening camp-wide service and another youth-specific activity after the service. This year, we will be joined by three people from a ministry team out of Kentucky Mountain Bible College. The theme and youth lessons are all inspired by verses from Romans 12.

Cost will be $100 for those who stay the full five days … this covers camp fee plus food for those days. We are taking donations toward the food aspect and if any parents want to help during that stretch with supervision/assistance, please contact John or Michelle.

A registration form will be developed soon for family camp programming.

Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks! John and Michelle Zaktansky
