Annual Port Ann Wesleyan rabbit hunt set for Jan. 21, 2023

The Port Ann Wesleyan Church’s annual rabbit hunt ministry will kick off at 6 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at the church with a light breakfast (donuts, muffins and coffee) as well as instructions before teams split up to hunt for the morning hours.

Teams can have a maximum of five licensed hunters each, and will be split up based on if they are hunting with a dog or without.

Everyone returns to the church at noon for lunch (taco soup, cheeseburger soup and other goodies), awards, pictures and time of fellowship. The event this year will be in memory of the longtime organizer of the hunt — Jim Mulaney — who died from cancer last year.

Rabbits are scored at 1 point apiece and squirrels at a half-point. The event is free, but donations are welcome to help cover costs plus prepare for our annual wild game dinner in March. A quarter-per-miss can will be set out as well.

If you plan to participate (or have any questions), please call or text John at 570-847-2718 by noon on Friday, Jan. 20, so we can be prepared.
