Port Ann Wesleyan church morning service for Jan. 10, 2021

Estimated read time 3 min read

This week’s Sunday morning sermon at Port Ann Wesleyan involved a special message from Beth Jordan, who works on the front lines of the COVID situation at a local doctor office, combined with prayer from Pastor Paul Sheets and Port Ann Wesleyan lay leader Bob Smith.

First, from our time of worship, here are several songs with corresponding verses Pastor Paul used to introduce them.

He started with Psalm 5:1-3 NKJV Give (A)ear to my words, O Lord,
Consider my [b]meditation.
Give heed to the voice of my cry,
My King and my God,
For to You I will pray.
My voice You shall hear in the morning, O Lord;
(B)In the morning I will direct it to You,
And I will look up.

Philippians 2:5-11 (NKJV): Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it [a]robbery to be equal with God, but [b]made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

II Chronicles 7:13-14 (NKJV): 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Psalm 34:17-19 (NKJV):

17 The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears,
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart,
And saves such as [a]have a contrite spirit.

19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

The message Sunday morning included a short intro from Pastor Paul Sheets about the importance of wisdom, referencing some verses tying back to Solomon. He then introduced Beth Jordan, who kicks off this message. The video ends with wrap-up comments from Pastor Paul and special prayer time for front-line workers, first responders and others who are dealing directly with COVID issues.
