Members of Port Ann Wesleyan church enjoyed their annual Christmas dinner on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Middleburg Fire Company. Forty-seven attended the dinner.
Some remarks from Pastor Paul Sheets on the evening:
“It was a delightful evening … relaxed and buzzing with conversations. We were greeted upon entering with live piano selections by Candy Mitchell. The food offered delicious and vibrant flavors that beckoned seconds. On the menu were turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dressing, gravy, candied carrots, corn and ice cream (chocolate or vanilla) and was served by well-trained volunteers at Middleburg Fire Auxillary. They said our meal was the first of eight for the season.”
“We swapped lively stories around the tables on a variety of topics, including hunting, travels and Christmas plans. There was lots of laughter and catching up on events in our often-too-busy lifestyles. We welcomed “first-time attendees” including Joel & Paula Freed and Gloria Haire. We re-connected with Colton Keister (returning to Pennsylvania) and Judy Bowersox, Lee and Kolby Blackwell and Chey. We enjoyed a short devotional from Phillippians 4:8 and sang Charles Wesley’s “Hark! The Herald, Angels Sing. After dismissal, many continued to hang around, savoring relationships as much as the flavors from the food before.”
